HIEA 115 (Initial Post)

Question: Why do you want to study the social and cultural history of modern Japan right now?

I am studying the social and cultural history of modern Japan right now because I have always enjoyed learning about history and I have done well in the previous history courses that I have taken. I thought that it would be interesting to take the Asia-Pacific courses for my Regional Specialization and this course, in particular, seemed very appealing to me. I was very glad to find out that this course was offered this quarter. I think that learning about the history of modern Japan would be very informative and benefit me greatly, as I am always interested in learning about other cultures and their historically-significant events.
